A Knight in shining armor by Jude Deveraux - a review

Not a fan of time travel, I pushed read "A Knight in Shining Armor" by Jude Deveraux, although it reads its way to a few lists of recommended romance makes. Surprisingly, I really enjoy.

It contains a number of similarities with the movie "Kate and Leopold", that the reader is exposed the reactions of the transported person to their new environment, meet the unusual customs, food, machinery, inventions and so on. It has also the tension and urgent element of people need a way of returning to their original time in history in a timely manner to prevent or facilitate to future events.

Dougless Montgomery considers himself an error when compared to her high siblings reach be. With their low self esteem she themselves used by her boyfriend, whom she lives with in America. While on vacation in England in 1988, she has a big argument with her boyfriend and his teenage daughter, until they in an old English church without money or passport to abandon her.

As she cries against the grave of a 16th century English Earl, she wants for a Knight in shining armor. Their cries are heard by Nicholas Stafford, Earl Thornwyck, which only now belongs to the grave, he stands directly in front of her. It takes quite a while for Dougless to believe that he is who he says he is, and for them to him on a search for him had framed. The longer they spend together, they feel closer to each other. Nicholas is not Knight a stereotypes. He was not in the beat and meet every need of the ailing heroine. He is strong, masculine, faithful, loving, intelligent, and they share a connection that takes the time to understand, to accept and to develop. Eventually they save each other with their souls be across each other intertwined over 400 years. The downside is that he is still a chauvinist, both in the 16th and 20th centuries. Nicholas is approaching so many modern elements with raw fascination.

Three quarters of the way through the book I was rooting for Dougless really, and Nicholas together until the end, but not in the position to imagine, as the author could happen as it make. Well, not you. There was no foreseeable end. Romantic, it was disappointing, although more if realistic can 'realistically' are applied, expected or at a time when history travel expected. People will probably either love or hate the end, it becomes bitter.

Some historical facts of the Elizabethan era were very interesting, but half of them were presented in a way that rather a lecture or a history lesson, instead is interwoven in the story was. We were told, rather than shown, and it sometimes dominates the story, leaving the developing relationship in the background.

Angel in a red dress appeared Judith ivory in 1988 under the title "Strahlender Surrender" with the author, when Judy Cuevas write. The new title seems not the history be used easily. The heroine, Christina, is the Angel, but nowhere in the history is, wearing red described. Perhaps the red part is when the hero, Adrien, summons opium-induced fantasy, her in his favorite when he takes the opium (that of the plant is derived from bright red poppies) for pain relief. Christina Bower is the beautiful daughter of the distinguished lawyer at the King's Bench. During their first season in London, she has a very short meeting with the infamous libertine Adrien Hunt, the seventh Earl of Kewischester. You can see it completely fascinating, but also their title hungry father Adrien holds an unsuitable match for his daughter. Me, it is clear that this is set in the 18th century, and that he was Earl. However, I believed that his actions were too selfish. Although on reflection perhaps he knew no different that what he did not, where such before persevering opposition or growing desperation to keep a grasp on what he came to realize that he most - Christina did not that.

He is certainly no "fake rake" - he has five illegitimate children of some of his previous Affairs, which is understandably worrying Christina, impressed even while she is that he actively and really interested them. Plus he not leave immediately, his sleek ways and other mistresses at the first meeting, and the pursuit of Christina.

As Christina refuses at first to his mistress, he gives her some place and respected their decision. The hero never apologizes things for the hurtful and offensive, which he said and done to her, and he never verbalises that he loves her. It's an unsatisfactory end which is far too quickly wrapped up. The tyrannical hero never dissolves at the end of the book. The story lacked the emotional intensity that is expected to be there in a novel.

Noel pens a high charged contemporary romance with "Decisive Moments." Secrets surround Amy Millington and Charles Harding. Can Amy and Charles find a way to forge a future despite the secrets that harden their hearts?

Set in modern day San Diego, Amy Millington has one more project to finish before she can get her degree - photograph the Harding mansion. Gathering her courage, she approaches the stoic and guarded architect, Charles Harding.

Charles says "no," of course, but Amy is undeterred. She picks up her daughter, Marta, from kindergarten and goes to the house. She promptly gets caught in the timbers and Charles comes to her rescue. Marta diffuses Charles' anger, but his answer to Amy is still "no."

Amy lets the issue rest. Marta, however, takes a liking to the handsome architect and invites him to her birthday party. Charles accepts.

Through Amy's research, she learns Charles' parents died a violent death. She's also encouraged at how Charles' drops his guard around Marta. Charles soon relaxes with Amy and Marta. He finally gives Amy permission to photograph her house, but Amy realizes the demons that haunt him are deep in his heart.

Amy's doubts and fears have hardened her heart as well. A photograph that suggests her husband had an affair on her before he died has plagued her. While Amy is willing to explore the attraction she feels for Charles, she's not prepared to fall in love. Will the secrets that haunt Amy and Charles keep them apart or will the decisive moments they face bring them together?

Noel's writing is crisp, sharp, and easy to read, engaging the reader on the first page. The plot moves at just the right clip and I kept turning the pages wanting too see what would happen next.

Noel paints modern day San Diego with rich authenticity using a good economy of words. She captures not only the military feel of the city, but also the city's rich historical vibe.

The best part of the novel is the rich characterization and how it drove the plot. Amy's perception of a photograph has built battlements around her heart only love can break. Charles is honorable and steadfast. It's heartwarming to see Marta crack is amour, but only Amy can free him of its confines.

The love scenes are tasteful and sensual, embodying a sweet, intimate romance in every gesture. "Decisive Moments" is an engrossing romance with charming characters and a picturesque setting. Noel's story will resonate with the reader long after the last page.

Kincaid craft one story of full voltage with 'Something special'. Part of the class 85 reunion series, returns Jane Grey Summerville restore her uncle inheritance only to himself in danger. Give Andy Morgan. He is a COP who discovers that his attraction to Jane is now just as strong as it all those years in high school was.

"Something special is a contemporary romance next to picturesque Lake Ontario." Summerville is a small, narrow town. When Jane was young, she witnessed her grandfather kill her mother and grandmother with an axe. The event traumatized Jane and earned her the nickname "Crazy Janie." Andrew Morgan knew better. Andrew saw by Janes peaks, but it was not enough. Jane continued, a scientist of the NASA Mars Rover project work and Andrew went to work for the FBI.

Jane's uncle died and left her a small fortune in a safe deposit box. Jane bucks the heritage claim because of the circumstances around surrounding their family death. She want no memories of their painful past. Andrew is haunted by his past. He believes in his work, and he hates dirty cops. He also believes that he may have found one in the Chief of police.

When Jane claims her heritage, she brings itself in danger. Can sure keep you Andy? Jane and Andy will work through their past hurts and take a chance on love? Trust Jane and Andy to achieve something special?

Kincaid closes the reader into a Web of mystery and intrigue as the story opens. The story moves at a nice clip and Kincaids writing style is easy to read. The author uses a good economy of words to paint the scenic town of Summerville. I felt myself as a resident watching unfold the story. Kincaid's dialogue is sharp and witty, brings a rich authenticity to the characters.

My favorite aspect of the story was the rich characterization. Jane is sad and prosecuted, but it is a career oriented woman and someone to admire. I just wanted to reach through the pages and give them a hug. Andy is heroic and purposeful. It was also fun to catch up with the supporting of cast, identified in an earlier novel, "Something more"

The story is demanding for Romance readers and the love scene embodies the smoldering chemistry between the couple. "Something special" the reader's heart warm and make you believe that love overcomes everything - even the past.

"November Rose" by Rob Shelsky is set in London during World War II. Rosalie is blinded in an air raid, but it's the intriguing Derrick who comes to her and not her fianc?, Thomas. Who will Rosalie give her November rose to?

Raby's "The Lace Thief" shines with snappy dialogue and a clever plot. Raby uses a good economy of words to paint vivid pictures of Aveline's world. Both Aveline and Nathaniel are interesting characters. Aveline's curiosity had me on the edge of my seat.

Pierson tugs on the reader's heartstrings with "A Heart for a Heart." Sam is torn between two honorable decisions. Pierson demonstrates the power of love will always guide the heart to make the right choice.

Schulze's "Time Dancers" shines with imagination. Her fantasy world is easy to get lost in. Schulze's writing style engages the reader, leaving them to wonder about Lopez and his motivations. Calina's growth at the end moves the reader.

"Growing in Love," by Evie Alexis has the reader cheering for Oliver from page one. Lissandra is quirky, yet an everyday girl we can all identify with. Alexis' light-hearted writing style points out the foils and obstacles of young love and demonstrates that given time, true love always prevails.

Rob Shelsky's "November Rose" leaves the reader breathless. Shelsky's writing is easy to read and pulls the reader into Rosalie's world effortlessly. Rosalie suffers from a serious injury, but it's Derrick with his heroic actions who has earned the right to claim her heart. War, however, has a way of throwing one's life a curve ball.

The novel has a dynamic ensemble of love stories that appeal to the romantic in all of us. The stories are "sweet" with couples exchanging a kiss or a gentle caress. This anthology is a heartwarming read for a cold winter's weekend.
